K-SAA MLA 2026

Awards Reception

Ricarda’s, Toronto

An evening of celebration was enjoyed by all at the K-SAA's Annual Awards Reception during the MLA Convention in Toronto. All festivities took place at the wonderful Ricarda’s Restaurant on Saturday, January 10, 2026.

The evening included honoring our 2026 Distinguished Scholar Award Recipients—Julia M. Wright and Richard C. Sha—announcing our Pforzheimer Grant winners—
Amy Wilcockson and Rebekah Cohen—sharing the winner of the K-SAA Essay Prize—Carmen Faye Mathes—and recognizing the project—Refuge from the Ravens—for the Arts & Public Engagement Award.

With both familiar and new faces, including many graduate students, several contingent faculty members, and scholars and teachers of various periods beyond the Romantic era, the convivial event was a huge success! Our new format of having a reception open to all will continue on to next year’s MLA in L.A.
