The Donald H. Reiman Archival Research Fund

The Byron Society of America and the Keats-Shelley Association of America are pleased to invite applications for support from the Donald H. Reiman Archival Research Fund.

Established through bequests to the two societies by the distinguished Romanticist Donald H. Reiman (1934–2019)—renowned for his lifelong dedication to textual scholarship, editorial work, and the preservation and study of literary archives—this fund supports projects that carry forward his legacy of sustained engagement with archival materials. The BSA and KSAA will seek to disburse a total of $2,000 annually in support of proposals.

Purpose and Scope

The Reiman Archival Fund provides modest awards up to $1,000 to scholars, educators, and students pursuing projects that involve or promote archival work covering the Romantic period (1780-1830). The fund welcomes proposals that include but are not limited to:

  • Scholarly research conducted in an archive or special collections library, especially work that is in in the realm of textual, bibliographic, or editorial work

  • Pedagogical projects that bring students into contact with archival materials (for example, a class field trip or assignment involving archival study)

  • Projects that enhance access to or awareness of archival resources

  • Creative or editorial work grounded in archival research

The spirit of the fund is flexible and supportive, encouraging uses of archives that honor Reiman’s lifelong commitment to the recovery, editing, and interpretation of Romantic-era materials.
